Huawei has awarded the top three participants of Seeds for the Future 2023 Bangladesh today at Huawei Bangladesh Academy in Gulshan. Shyam Sunder Sikder, Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC); Lizongsheng, Board Member of Huawei South Asia Region, & Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Vice-Chancellor of RUET handed over the prizes & certificates to the winners.
The top ‘seeds’ (winners) have been selected on the basis of performance in exams, project & team work & interviews at ‘Tech4Good’, the global competition round of Seeds for The Future. The top three seeds from this year’s competition are Barisha Chowdhury, Department of CSE, RUET (champion); Subeh Tarek, Department of BTM, IUT (1st runner-up); and Farsia Kawsar Chowdhury, Department of ME, BUET (2nd runner-up). Barisha Chowdhury has been announced as the best team leader as well.
The champion has received a Huawei Laptop, and the runner ups have received Huawei Tab and Huawei Smart watch as prizes for their outstanding performance. Apart from them, top 10 participants received a completion certificate from Huawei.
The award-giving ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Engr. MD. Jahangir Alam, Vice-Chancellor, RUET and other dignitaries also. The event began with a speech by Lizongsheng, Board Member and it included a ‘Seeds for the Future 2023’ overview, experience stories from ex-seeds and speeches from special guests and chief guest.
Shyam Sunder Sikder, Chairman, Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC), said, “I believe one day, all the winner seeds from Seeds for the Future will become brilliant assets of different sectors our country. I want to thank Huawei for giving such a great opportunity to the young people of Bangladesh through their flagship initiative. Without Huawei, the telecom infrastructure of Bangladesh would not have grown significantly side by side I believe Huawei has enabled a great environment of learning through Seeds for the Future.”
Prof Dr. Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Vice-chancellor, RUET, said, “The ‘Seeds for the Future’ program has been significantly developing the skills of ICT centric youth and has created skill fields for our students. I am amazed to see that approximately 12,000 students from over 100 universities across the world have benefited from this flagship initiative of Huawei. From the academic side, we appreciate Huawei’s effort to create opportunities for the young talents of our country. ICT is considered one of the largest industries worldwide and initiatives like these can propel our journey towards Smart Bangladesh.”
Lizongsheng, Board Member, Huawei South Asia, said, “All seeds have showcased exceptional dedication and creativity, reflecting the program’s success in nurturing talent. These future leaders embody the spirit of Seeds For the Future, and I commend their commitment to creating positive change through technology. Huawei will remain committed to empowering the next generation of tech visionaries for a Smart Bangladesh.”
Previously this year, six students of Huawei’s Seeds For The Future 2023, Bangladesh, visited China for a ten days tour. During the tour, they participated in technology and cultural exchange programs, visited Huawei’s world class R&D Centers & Headquarters, experienced Traditional and Modern China and attended “Talent Summit 2023”.
‘Seeds for the Future’ is Huawei’s globally-recognized flagship program that has been cultivating digital talent for 15 years now. More than 15,000 students globally have benefitted from this initiative. In Bangladesh, the program is supporting the students to be part of a robust ICT ecosystem that Huawei is trying to build.
Meanwhile, Md. Mostafa Kamal, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Shipping, sent a message congratulating the winners. He shared “I truly believe that lessons learnt from participating in Seeds for the Future will help the participants in their future endeavors, which will in turn be beneficial for the society and the country’s growth. I congratulate the top 3 seeds and all the participant of Seeds for the Future 2023. Also, I would like to thank Huawei and other stakeholders involved in this program for creating such a wonderful opportunity for the youth to learn and inspire others to learn.”
MD. Sarwar Hossain, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare shared “It is essential to discover the STEM fields and train our youth with robust ICT knowledge through such programs. I find Seeds for the Future to be very inspirational, and I am sure our students are being benefitted by this program. I congratulate Huawei for bringing out this program for the 10th time in Bangladesh and congratulate the students for their participation.”
Md. Nurul Hafiz, Secretary, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission shared “We need more young talents to emerge and take the lead as we push towards to build a smart Bangladesh. I commend Huawei for their long commitment to develop ICT talents from Bangladesh through programs like Seeds for the future. Stem and non-stem students from Bangladesh are being benefited greatly from programs like this.”
